The community partners of Apache Innovative School have busily provided for the school’s families and staff during its first semester.
With an increase in number of families at Apache experiencing food insecurity, the Church of the Resurrection Overland Park Food Pantry provided food for 50 families to supplement a delivery of food from Harvesters. School staff put together bags of food for the families to make nutritious meals. “When children are nourished, they are able to learn, play and grow. I love being a part of that! It’s a pleasure to work with Amanda Migori and Britt Pumphrey to serve children in our community!” said Suzy Ayres, Church of the Resurrection Overland Park. The church plans to continue the Mobile Food Pantry and also provided Thanksgiving pies for all of the Apache staff.
Redeemer Church included 18 Apache families in their Affordable Christmas event, where families get to pick out their Christmas gifts at a reduced cost, and Breakpointe Church provided Panera bagels for staff.
Rick Krapes at Country Financial initiated the Greatest Teacher/Administrator Nomination Event. Two separate drawings awarded 20 teachers and 3 administrators. “Teachers and administrators have been working hard to help our kids start the school year,” said Mr. Krapes. “We want to show our appreciation and say thank you! Each winner will receive an award, gift box of gift cards and goodies, as well as being entered to win a drawing for other prizes at the virtual banquet such as a Cat in the Hat Show for the school of their choice.”
