Bridge of Hope, a community partner at Grant Elementary in KCKPS, hosted its annual fundraiser recently, raising $1,000 to present to the school to fund several of its projects this year.
Dr. Heather Calvert, Principal, and Moses Wyatt, Behavior Intervention Specialist and CFKN School Liaison, (pictured with Pastor Luther Eatman, Jr.) shared many celebrations with those in attendance and the impact that their partnership has had on students and staff at Grant. They also shared their requests for the year.
“Our first request was donations of candy or other items for Halloween. For our community, the Trunk or Treat at the school is the only opportunity for students and families to celebrate Halloween,“ said Dr. Calvert.
“Our second request was support in starting a winter holiday store. During the days, students earn Mustang Money for good behavior and effort in learning. This year, we would like for students to have the opportunity to spend their Mustang Money in our holiday store to ‘shop’ for their family members. This will allow students to take responsibility around the holidays and take part in family traditions.” After the fundraiser ended, not only did Bridge of Hope present the school with a $1,000 check to assist these efforts, but many in attendance brought items to the school to support the two requests.
