Reducing chronic absences was one of Principal Sarah Pike’s goals for her Frances Willard students this year. As an attendance incentive, she offered class parties and noted improvements overall throughout the school year, and up to 98% attendance for winning classes.
Two of the school’s Caring for Kids partners, Urban Scholastic Center and Iglesia Vida Abudante, hosted six parties for classrooms with the most improved attendance, providing pizza, ice cream or cookies, and themed treat bags filled with fun trinkets and a book to take home.
