Ingels “Safety by Choice” Event Builds Community Trust
After last year’s great success, Ingels Elementary in Hickman Mills provided its second Safety by Choice fun family event May 14. With all of the violence that has taken place in the Kansas City community over the past few years, the event was created to help build trust with families and to promote awareness of organizations available in the community to help families be safe by providing free resources to parents.
Community participants included the KCMO Health, Fire and Police Departments, KC Mothers in Charge, Turn the Page KC, Mid-Continent Public Library, Midwest Pool, LINC, Walmart, Price Chopper, Aetna Better Health of Missouri, St. James UMC / Renaissance Campus, Pillars of Truth, and United Believers Community Church. The school’s community partners provided food, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting, donations and informational resources. Entertainment included KC Wolf, games, and the Ingels Praise Dance Group.
